Happy National Bird Day!

Today is National Bird Day, so here's to all you great Blue Jays, Cardinals, and Orioles fans out there in baseball land.

For me, and all my Detroit Tigers brethren, we like to celebrate our very own bird... Mark "The  Bird" Fidrych. 

The Bird was the 1976 American League Rookie of the Year, posting a 19-9 record with a 2.34 era, and started the All-Star Game in Philadelphia. 

We lost Mark Fidrych way to young, but we'll always have great memories of that magical season when "The Bird was the Word."
