Today is a very special Happy Baseball Birthday! / Blog Bat Around post as we celebrate an amazing baseball fan, Sarah Langs. 

Sarah, who's turning 31 today, is a baseball fan and MLB.com /MLB Network researcher who probably knows more about the games history than I do, even though I'm 30+ years older.

👉 On May 2, 1939, at old Briggs Stadium in Detroit, Lou Gehrig's then MLB Record of 2,130 consecutive baseball games played was stopped when he could no longer play because of his health. 

⚾️ Please, if you can, make a BBA post for Sarah today, I'd really appreciate it.

Sarah was diagnosed with ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease in 2022, and, yet, she still smiles each and every day for us while tweeting/posting the stats that we fans need to know.

Tigers Card Tuesday-Riley Greene Relic

Watching the Tigers take on the Cardinals this afternoon in Game 1 of a straight double header vs STL after last night's rain out.

🐅⚾️ In the top of the 4th inning, Detroit's best player, Riley Greene, homered off Cardinals starting pitcher Kyle Gibson. giving Detroit a 1-0 lead.

Good Morning, Baseball is back and Im up

⏰️ Woke up at 6:30 this morning to watch the Dodgers and Padres "officially" open up the 2024 Big League Baseball season.

🤔 Why am I up, when I haven't done this for games in the past?

👉 Topps BUNT App, they're having a "watch party" were baseball fans chat about the game, answer trivia, and collect/trade digital cards.

👉 We received 15K in FREE coins and a cool looking avatar.

🥱 I'm very tired, but, as a baseball fan, it's well worth it!

Tigers Card Tuesday- Bazooka Bill Freehan!

This terrific card arrived just in time for another Tigers Card Tuesday! 

👉 As I was telling Jeff and Dennis on Saturday,  I was hoping it would get here by today, because, well, it's just a cool find and eBay bid winning card!

🐯⚾️ As you all know, Bill Freehan is my favorite baseball player of All-Time, since I was 7 years old, when I attended my first Detroit Tigers game ever, at old Tiger Stadium.

🐯⚾️ I couldn't believe that a card like this cane up for auction, and I was more shocked to find out that I'd actually won!

👉 I was more than happy to pay a small price for such a cool card from my childhood. 

👉 Its not all that easy to find a card of Freehan that I don't already have and, that I can afford to purchase. 

👉 I'm usually bogged down trying to add to the Boyd Binder, or add8ng cards of Miguel Cabrera and Riley Greene, and I'm lucky that I saw this auction.

A great time on Saturday w/my card collecting freinds, Dennis, and Jeff, at the twice a year show in my hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🚗 🥶 It was very nice of Dennis to make the trek from Ann Arbor to the east, braving the freezing temps, and, to give me a ride home after the show was over.

👉 He also found two very cool cards of Tyler Boyd in Jeff's dollar boxes, they'll go into the ever growing BOYD Binder today. 

Have a terrific day, and, hopefully, another post will be coming up soon, featuring yesterday's pick ups and a much awaited mail day from ye Olde PO Box.

Football Card Friday- Goff Leads Lions over KC

The NFL is back, and my beloved Detroit Lions went into Kansas City and beat the defending Super Bowl Champions, 21-20.

📺 Detroit/KC television ratings was up in 2023. 

9️⃣0️⃣ 2023 is the 90th Anniversary of the Lions.

🦁🏈 Lions QB Jared Goff , in his 3rd year wearing the Honolulu Blue, was 22-35, 253 yards, and one TD pass, to, of course, 2nd year wide receiver Amon- Ra St. Brown.

🐻 I've been a fan of Goff since he came  into the league in 2016, the 1st overall pick in the NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams from the Cal Golden Bears.

In 2022, Goff was traded to the Lions for QB Matthew Stafford, who, after 12 years in the Motor City, led the Rams to the Super Bowl title.
