Card Corner- 2022 Series 1 Matthew Boyd

Today is the official release of 2022 Topps Series 1 Baseball Cards, and, for the 8th consecutive year, my favorite big league pitcher, Tigers LHP Matthew Boyd, has a base card in the set.

👉 Thanks to Kellys Cards 1768 on Twitter for the first picture of the 2022 Topps Matthew Boyd.

🤳 I sent out a few tweets over the past few days, hoping someone came across an image of the card, as well as constantly searching eBay.

👀👀 Finally, late this afternoon, a listing for Matthew's card was posted.

👉 Of course, the usual rainbow 🌈 of parallel cards will have to be collected as well.

As I said, Matthew has had a base card in every Topps set since he made it to Detroit, beginning with 2015 Topps Update.

🏠 Matthew is once again in his home Olde English D uniform in 2022 Topps, as he has been in six  (2015/18/19/2020/21/22) of the eight sets.

👉 His two cards wearing a road Tigers uniforms are 2016 & 2017 Topps.

🤔 Have you opened Topps Series 1 today?

What player(s) are you looking to collect from Series 1 Topps?

Hope ya'll have a great rest of the week, and, as always, I appreciated you stopping by to read my blog.

Football Card Friday!- Super Bowl Edition- Yeah, BOYD!

Today's edition of Football Card Friday! features Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd

The 27 year old receiver played his college football at the University of Pittsburgh, were he set the Panthers All-Time records for catches and receding yards, even though he turned pro after his Junior season.

The Cincinnati Bengals drafted the Clairton, Pennsylvania, native in the 2nd Round (55th overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Through his first six years with the Bengals, Tyler is already #11 in team history, with 4,571 career receiving yards, and with move into the top 10 next season.

🎁 My 62nd Birthday is a week from tomorrow, and I'm showcasing my #1 Tyler Boyd Football Card in today's post.

      2016 Panini ENCASED
                    Tyler Boyd
                    AU/75... #66/75.

There aren't many football cards that I see that make me look twice, but this beauty is as good as it gets, especially when you collect cards of players with "BOYD" in their name(s).

This is card #16 in my Tyier Boyd collection, but it's easily the best of them all.

I certainly hope that Tyler plays well, and if he catches a TD pass I'll definitely be extremely happy.

Hope yall have a great weekend, and enjoy the game.

🤔 Who ya got the Bengals, or the Rams?

Happy Baseball Birthday, Matthew Boyd!

Happy Baseball Birthday! wishes go out to my favorite big league pitcher, Matthew Boyd, who's turning 32 years young today.

Matthew was injured for the majority of 2021, and was non tenured by the Tigers, leaving him without a team when the season starts, whenever that happens.

How cool is it that Matthew Boyd liked 👍 my today!

The big league lockout is delaying and player activity in the Florida and Arizona Spring Training fields, but Matthew is working out hard and will be ready to go when called upon.

Happy Baseball Birthday! Matthew, hope you and your family enjoyed the day.

Randy Boyd, 1961-2022

It was very sad when I saw on Twitter yesterday that former hockey player Randy Boyd had passed away, at just 59 years old.

👉 From NHL ALUMBI on Twitter.

I can't say that I remember Randy playing in the NHL, but I suppose that when watching games way back in the 1980s that I certainly did see him playing for the Penguins, Blackhawks, Islanders, or the Canucks.

6️⃣2️⃣ Born in 1962, in Coniston, Ontario,Canada, Randy just celebrated his Birthday on January 23rd.

👉 Boyd was drafted in the 3rd Round of the NHL Draft in 1980 by Pittsburgh, and started his professional career with the Ottowa 67s of the Ontario Hockey League.

👉 Boyd made his NHL debut with the Penguins in 1981-82, and made it into the 1983-84 OPC card set, #283.

Rest in Peace, Randy Boyd.

Happy Baseball Birthday! Jake Cronenworth

Looking at Twitter this evening I saw a post by My Sports Obsession, that it's the Happy Baseball Birthday! of former Michigan Wolverine and current Padres 2nd Baseman,  Jake Cronenworth.

Jake has blossomed into an exciting player for the Padres, and, along with Fernando Tatis, Jr. & Many Machado, they have fuled a terrific turnaround in San Diego.

When Jake goes deep, it's awesome to hear Padres TV play by play announcer Dan Orsillo proclaim "welcome to the CRONE ZONE!"

My favorite Cronenworth baseball card so far is his 2021 Topps Living Set card.

I also have this card of Jake, another winner because of that old school Topps Rookie Cup on the card.

Happy Baseball Birthday, Jake...Go BLUE!

Contest T8me w/ Cards on Cards

There's still time to get in on the 12th Annual Bowl Pick 'Em w/ Cards on Cards.

I'm notoriously bad at these pick 'em things on ESPN, so I'm looking forward to my last place prize.

Football Card Friday! 1997 Upper Deck Pigskin Heroes- Jim Harbaugh

Tomorrow night in Indianapolis, Indiana, the #2 ranked Michigan Wolverines will play the Iowa Hawkeyes, ranked #15, for the 2021 Big Ten Championship in football.

Michigan Head Football Jim Harbaugh, the 1986 Big Ten Silver Football Award Winner, returns to Indianapolis were he played QB for the NFL Colts, from 1994-97.

This card is pretty much emblematic of "Captain Comeback," as Harbaugh was known in Indy.

I can't even begin to imagine how nervous I'll be tomorrow night, as my beloved Wolverines try to win their first Big Ten Title game, and the teams first conference championship since 2004.

Harbaugh will always be one of my favorite Michigan players, especially now that he's cone back to Ann Arbor to coach the team.!

I started watching Michigan play football in 1976, and nobody in college football was tougher than Harbaugh was as Bo Schembechler's starting QB in 1985 & 1986.

Here's hoping that the Wolverines can score against a very tough Iowa defense, one of the nation's best.

Have a great weekend...oh, yeah, Go Blue!
